What Are The Different Types Of Employment Leaves? During the period of employment, employees will be allowed for a certain amount of leaves. Here, some of common employment leaves mentioned below –
Casual Leave –
From the date of joining employees shall enjoy casual leave. But organization wise the leave range is different. In many organizations, it might be mentioned that an employee shall not be entitled to take more than three days of casual leave at a time. On the other hand, it is notable that Casual leave shall not be accumulated and carried forward to the succeeding year.
Earned Leave –
Many reputed and well established company offering earned leave facilities from the HR department. Generally, it is introduced that after completion of one year service an employee shall be eligible for earned leave. Also, unused earned leave is encash able or forward able.
Sick Leave –
An employee shall be entitled to sick leave with wages in a year. Basically, the leaves ranges are determined by company authority or per labor rules. Provided that sick leave shall not be accumulated and carried forward to the succeeding year. In many organizations, absence for more than two working days on emergency illness is required submission of medical certificate / doctor’s prescription along with the sick leave application and abuse of sick leave is consider for disciplinary actions.
Marriage Leave –
So far we see that many organization introduced marriage leave for employee’s weeding. The duration of leave will be specific as well as same for all types of employees. In general practice, we can see that application through the department manager’s recommendation have to be submitted to the HR department prior and after proper verification of the leave application, HR department will precede the leave for approval.
Maternity Leave –
Maternity leave shall be entitled on application leave with pay for eight week before and eight week after the confinement on ground of maternity. It’s also varying organization wise.
Paternal Leave –
During the service period one male employee will be entitle to get such a leave.
Compassionate Leave –
To participate the funeral of the expired of family member (mother, father, wife, husband and child) an employee will be allowed for compassionate leave with pay. If any fraudulence is identified to avail such facilities will be dealt with stringent disciplinary action
Compensatory Leave –
An employee when required to work on a holiday shall be given as a substitute on any other day.
Festival Leave –
Every employee shall be allowed for festival holidays with pay in a calendar year. Festival holidays shall be fixed and notified in the month of January at the beginning of the year.
Quarantine leave –
Quarantine leave is given to that employee who does not suffer a contagious disease himself, but has a close family member who is infected. This type of leave is granted upon the relevant medical personnel.
Leave without Pay –
If the above mention leave is not applicable for employee, in that case as per management decision or special consideration an employee entitle to get such a leave. All leave application has to be processed through HR department for proper documentation, accuracy, policy, complaisance, internal control, and accountability.
